Whoops… broke the blog again

Looks like it’s back to default till I figure out which plugin almost caused the demise of SinoPenn.

Updated the plugins, and gave Sinopenn a fresh theme!  Everything seems to work fine now!  As a web designer, it’s not really a good idea to let this go for too long. ;)

Hey you!  Fight the generic Microsoft green-field background and get something not only cool, but sciency and astronomy-ey!  Phil Plait of the Bad Astronomy blog constantly posts LARGE images taken from Hubble, NASA and other astrophotographers and shares them with his readers.  A lot of the images are HUGE!  Because of that, they make fantastic desktop images!

Spruce up your desktop with some classy new images.  Check out THIS, THIS and THIS for all your astronomical huge-image joyness!

Or use mine!  And perhaps someone can tell me whether or not this actually IS the most updated map of our fair Galaxy (there’s quite a few maps out there.

Notice to AOL: STOP IT ALREADY!

For the last 48 hours, I’ve received thousands of emails simply titled “Undeliverable mail”.  These emails were all sent to AOL users.  I’ve reported this to abuse@ and postmaster@ and have looked around for info on how to contact AOL about this.  The closest I came was to become a member just to talk to someone.  Not likely, pals.

Here’s what’s happening.  Emails are being sent using the “From” address genova (at) terascape.net.  They’re going to AOL users.  Generally about fake rolexes and such.  For the record, genova@ was my email address for a good 6 years.  Now that terascape is my company, I decided it’s best to use my real name.

genova@ is also NO LONGER an email address.  It hasn’t been for over a year.  It’s an alias for eric@.  Furthermore, it’s on Google Apps.  This account also has NO ACCESS to sending emails.  Therefore, the email is being spoofed.  What is AOL doing about it after I contacted postmaster@ and abuse@?  Their servers are continuing to try to send these emails.  48 hours later.  Thanks guys.  Very helpful.

What worries me the most is not the thousands of undeliverable emails, but what could be tens-of or even hundreds of thousands of emails that may have actually gotten through.  Not only that, but possible blocks concerning my domain name.  I know AOL is not responsible for sending these emails.  But if it’s been reported, shouldn’t they at least try to block the server it’s coming from?  So again, I plead with AOL, STOP THESE EMAILS FROM BEING SENT!  DON’T TRY TO SEND AGAIN IF IT FAILED ONCE! IT’S A SPOOFED EMAIL AND NOT FROM ME!

STOP IT ALREADY!

Early this morning, I drove over to the bank to get some cash for the missus and I. On the way back I had to stop at this terrible intersection. By terrible I mean there’s always traffic, and no one knows what the lines on the road mean. Total chaos every time.

When I drive, I usually have the windows down, blasting music. This morning, I had a CD in that I made for Mrs. Skyline. Basically Chick-rock. While I sat there at dysfunction junction, I noticed to the left, a mother and son getting food. The boy, maybe 6 or 7 years old tops, was looking at me and my car. With a big grin on his face, he started bobbing up and down to the music. The kid loved it! After a few seconds, he was really jamming to the music! I of course laughed, thinking when this kid grows up, he’s going to be a rockstar! Maybe I should get his autograph now!

His mother looked back after getting the both of them food, saw her kid jamming to my car’s music and laughed. Light turned green, so I was off.

The song: Romeovoid’s “Never Say Never”. Old School!

The most evil plums ever grown!

The most evil plums ever grown!

The most evil plums ever made by mankind, and the Chinese have taken up where Mussolini left off.  When will the madness end?

Actually, that would make a good punk band name.

Latitude/Longitude – 1 yueyang road

Latitude is the restaurant on the first floor, and Longitude is the the bar/restaurant on the 2nd, complete with a patio. Grace and I went there about a week and a half ago for their set lunch. The food was great, and with the outside patio on the 2nd floor, this place is a cool hangout if you want to relax on a warm summer afternoon. Happy hour starts at 6pm though. Rather unfortunate for us early-afternooners.

Camel Bar – 1 yueyang road (around the corner from L/L).

The Camel Sports bar is a new bar in the neighborhood, only having opened up a little over a month ago. It’s large with tons of tv’s, mostly showing Australian sports. That’s probably due to the time zones, though. Happy hour starts at 4pm. I discovered this last Friday. Come on, Camel! 4pm? Give us early afternooners a break! Overall, this joint will definitely give the old standards, Big Bamboo and Malones a run for their money.

Cheers Wine Cellar – Rm. 201A, 3/F, Lane 3215 Hongmei Lu

Cheers is a bit tough to find, but once you do, you’ll find a rather exquisite place.  Grace and I went there last year, so it was awhile ago.  The restaurant aspect is expensive if you go for the entire several courses.  But for just relaxing with a wine, they have an outside area that’s quite quiet and relaxing.    Overall, great job in decorations.

Cuvee Wine Bar/Kaiba 528 Kangding Road

I have to mention Cuvee as I’m one of the investors.  However, as places with outside areas go, Cuvee and Kaiba are quite nice.  Cuvee sports decent, not too expensive wine, as well as cheaper draft beers and cocktails.  By Cheaper, I mean 38 kuai for a Carlsberg, as opposed to 40 to 50 at other places.  Kaiba sports a vast collection of beer from Belgium as well as other places around the world.  Between the two joints, one could have a pretty damn relaxing afternoon on Kangding Road.  (you hear that, park one and park eight?)

As always, there’s still Bubba’s and Bamboo, but I’ve talked about them enough in the past.
