Latitude/Longitude – 1 yueyang road
Latitude is the restaurant on the first floor, and Longitude is the the bar/restaurant on the 2nd, complete with a patio. Grace and I went there about a week and a half ago for their set lunch. The food was great, and with the outside patio on the 2nd floor, this place is a cool hangout if you want to relax on a warm summer afternoon. Happy hour starts at 6pm though. Rather unfortunate for us early-afternooners.

Camel Bar – 1 yueyang road (around the corner from L/L).
The Camel Sports bar is a new bar in the neighborhood, only having opened up a little over a month ago. It’s large with tons of tv’s, mostly showing Australian sports. That’s probably due to the time zones, though. Happy hour starts at 4pm. I discovered this last Friday. Come on, Camel! 4pm? Give us early afternooners a break! Overall, this joint will definitely give the old standards, Big Bamboo and Malones a run for their money.

Cheers Wine Cellar – Rm. 201A, 3/F, Lane 3215 Hongmei Lu
Cheers is a bit tough to find, but once you do, you’ll find a rather exquisite place. Grace and I went there last year, so it was awhile ago. The restaurant aspect is expensive if you go for the entire several courses. But for just relaxing with a wine, they have an outside area that’s quite quiet and relaxing. Overall, great job in decorations.
Cuvee Wine Bar/Kaiba 528 Kangding Road
I have to mention Cuvee as I’m one of the investors. However, as places with outside areas go, Cuvee and Kaiba are quite nice. Cuvee sports decent, not too expensive wine, as well as cheaper draft beers and cocktails. By Cheaper, I mean 38 kuai for a Carlsberg, as opposed to 40 to 50 at other places. Kaiba sports a vast collection of beer from Belgium as well as other places around the world. Between the two joints, one could have a pretty damn relaxing afternoon on Kangding Road. (you hear that, park one and park eight?)

As always, there’s still Bubba’s and Bamboo, but I’ve talked about them enough in the past.

Was at Bubba’s this weekend. Every year for the fourth year in a row, the Chili Cookoff is held at Bubba’s Texas Saloon. Teams from both restaurants in Shanghai to individuals & groups sign up to cook in the cookoff, competing for Best Chili as judged by the judges, as well as Peoples’ Choice. The people’s choice award tends to go to the team with the most flair, or in some cases, the ones who gives out the most shots.
Anyways, below are some pics. The rest are on my Picasa Photo Gallery.

After reading this link on Huffington Post, I decided to see what Google thinks of other people & places. Interesting to find what Google Suggest has to say about China.

Another year, another Super Bowl spent at Bubba’s Texas Saloon, another Steelers Win! I’m ecstatic that Pittsburgh won again, their 2nd Super Bowl I’ve seen at Bubba’s! Congratulations, guys! Hell of a game, and one HELL of a fantastic last second play in the first half! Great job, James Harrison!

I’m still a Bears fan. Don’t let all that fool you! But I do like my Pennsylvania teams!

Wow, I should really post! Been to Yangshuo but the wife has all the pics on her compy. Went through a summer term working days for a change, company’s growing and all that, saw pics of Sienna in her knickers (her fault. she blogged them!), quit smoking again, started smoking again, quit again, joined a softball league, 2nd best team in Shanghai, and that’s even after taking body shots from hookers’ belly buttons, sucked at Golden Tee, watched the Olympics (did I mention they’re OVER in 2 days?), regained my special “insomnia” skill, permed it too, I think, and lots of other stuff. Will have to update, I suppose.

Yeah yeah, I know. The Bears lost. But still, the party over at Bubba’s Texas Barbecue & saloon, (2262 Hong Qiao Lu by the Hongqiao Marriott) was pretty good. The place was absolutely packed, with half the place rabidly cheering on the Bears, and the others saying something about the Colts. They offered up a good breakfast of spare ribs & soft tacos, along with beer, martinis, bloody marys & other drinks (yes, all at 7:30 in the morning!)
KJ, the proprietor of Bubba’s also ordered up his own halftime show complete with dancing girls. The girls, however were a bit lacking, and at least the upstairs crowd didn’t seem to pay too much attention. But then again, with all the people, they didn’t exactly have the room to perform in the first place. Whatever… it was a good time, and KJ did promise that next year’s party would be better (suggesting that the downstairs crowd wasn’t too into it either.
